Social Media Editor Search

Overview

The journal CHEST® is looking for a new Social Media Editor. This volunteer position entails developing a social media strategy for the journal’s Facebook, Twitter, and other social media channels.

The  Social Media Editor will assist in engaging and expanding the CHEST audience through various social media outlets. Working with the journal staff, the CHEST Social Media Specialist, and the Web and Multimedia Editor, the Editor will help to identify articles that are likely to spark conversation. This Editor will aid in crafting messages and questions that go beyond just highlighting an article toward eliciting comments and other questions from the audience.

     Key Responsibilities

  1. Define and develop innovative social media tactics to enhance the reach, engagement, and understanding of CHEST content.
  2. Stay current on emerging uses of content and social media tactics that CHEST may consider.
  3. Support the development of defined social media, and work with staff and contracted partners to ensure delivery of final assets on time, on budget, and at a high level of quality.
  4. Collaborate with the Editor in Chief; Deputy Editor;  Assistant Editor; and the publisher, Elsevier, to select high impact and complex research to be complemented through social media.
  5. Produce summaries of each monthly issue and identify content to feature on the journal’s social media and blog sites.
  6. Leverage the CHEST website to provide information on trending topics.
  7. Communicate with the authors of original articles as needed, to develop complementary social media material.
  8. Engage with leading researchers and clinicians to contribute to the development of content, as needed.
